How hard is it to go from Fixed Income to Equities in AM?
I am an undergraduate student graduating in Dec 2017 looking to break into Asset Management. I am currently doing a credit analysis internship analyzing corporate bonds. I am most passionate about equities and want to work in that field. Right now I'm looking to get a 2017 Summer Analyst internship and feel it would be easier to get a FI position over an equity because it would be building on my current experiences.
My question is how hard is it to switch from FI to equity once I start? Should I aim for a FI internship next summer since it overlaps with what I've done/am doing and then try to transition to equities or should I look strictly for equity analyst internships since that is my long term goal?
I appreciate any help on this.
