Consulting = Outsiders?

I would just like to state outright that I do not own the website or the link, and I am simply posting it because I am a subscriber to their mailing list (some individuals went out of there way to blatantly/maliciously express their opinion that i was an owner...). I found this article to be quite enticing, if you are indeed from the consulting industry, then you would definitely find merit behind the article. I just want to know what you guys are thinking about it since I find it to be true, myself as a consultant.

Sure seems like it. There's a top consulting firm (not MBB but still up there) working at my firm and they cycle through staff just about every week. New faces all the time. I have know idea how they pick up on what to do in such a short amount of time because they've essentially taken the reins on the project and it's quite a confusing one too. But they do have a lot of power on this project so in that way they're insiders I suppose...

Relinquis:
isn't the whole point of consultants that they are outsiders... someone for management to blame if/when things don't work out, or to justify decisions like laying off thousands of employees, or to facilitate a CEO's latest empire building plan at the expense of his shareholders, etc...?
ya i guess so. a lot of times they're used as neutral third parties in which case it would be kind of appropriate for them to not be completely aware of what's going on
