Anybody have recommendations for sales events in NYC where you can get high end suits for steep discounts? NYC monkeys check in.

reliable sources are saying that my office is going to officially change the dress code to require men to wear a full suit, every day.

need to buy three suits. (or more?) i only have two suits currently. One nice (paid $500), one bad (my original interview suit). Looking to buy one of those $500 suits in a different color, plus two suits basically as cheap as I can go for something decent, with bonus points for true quality clothes at steep discounts. I know deals can be had in this city, if you are so inclined to dig through piles of clothes at big warehouse sales.

OK guys, so spill your knowledge. Where can I get cheap suits. Keep in mind I am working long hours (this is not just an interview suit) and I have the money to spend if I need to, but I'd just prefer to save as much cash as possible.

I feel like nobody gives a damn what you wear as long as it is tailored and looks kind of clean/ironed. I feel like its almost a benefit to dress down a little bit. But I'd still want to get one nice looking suits for important days when I want to look good. Help me out guys. I hate spending money on clothes and I just shelled out for a bunch of stuff to wear.

plus i am the type who enjoys getting things at super steep discounts.

men's wearhouse. you'll like the way you look. he guarantees it.
LMAO!

Seriously though, a lot of the high end retail stores (Saks, Neimans, etc) have huge discounts during the holidays (30-50%) and year end (40-60%), especially during these past few years.

All the big department stores were having a 40-60% sale this past weekend. Not sure if it is still going on, but check their websites. I picked up a nice CK originally $600 for $270.

If you want some seriously cheap stuff but high-end stuff, check out this website (only relevant if you're in or around NYC). Really, any monkeys who are in NYC and in the market for work clothes should check this site out every once in a while:

http://www.thechoosybeggar.com/

They list a lot of the good sales/sample sales in NYC. A lot of the stuff is definitely too fashion-forward for work, but some of the stuff they have is actually really good, conservative clothing, i.e. J. Press, Ralph Lauren, Paul Stuart, Hickey Freeman, etc.

If you check blogs regularly, just add this to your list. A lot of the stuff won't be that interesting, but they definitely have stuff every couple of weeks that is worth checking out. For example the J. Press and Hickey Freeman sample sales right now, which is 70-80% off very high quality suits, shirts, and ties that will work for any interview or job. Not going to get much better than that.

Some of the sales are online, some aren't, just depends. Anyway, check it out, I've managed to get some really nice clothes from stuff they've listed on a relatively minor budget.

Hi, Eric Stratton, rush chairman, damn glad to meet you.

Surprised no one mentioned it- Soiffer Haskin hosts sample sales. Hugo Boss, Joseph Abboud, and some other stuffier stuff. The general deal is you get a suit for $400 that retails for $800, but there are some gems in there- one I picked up was listed as $1200 on nordstrom's site. If you go on the last day, the discounts get steeper. If you buy 3 or more, you get a discount as well- I did successfully negotiate a $50 discount for 2 last time I was there, but the place was relatively dead, and I actually wasn't going to walk out of there with both without it, and I guess the salesman knew it.
