Rolling up your sleeves

The weather is getting hotter outside, and I'm wondering at what level in the investment banking hierarchy is it appropriate to roll up one's sleeves. Given that you aren't in a client meetin, and are just at your desk working or outside grabbing coffee. Are SAs and analysts allowed to roll up their sleeves if it gets hot out, or is this a privilege only reserved for associates and VPs, perhaps only MDs?

Also, does the height to which you are allowed to roll the sleeve up dictate your rank? Like I'd be interested to go higher than the elbow, but I'd assume thats reserved for MDs?

On a more serious note, is it fine to take off your pants as it gets later in the night and most higher ups have left? Obviously would have boxers on underneath (with a button so nothing pokes out).

That has been one of my big questions during informational interviews. I've gotten the impression that the boutiques tend to be more okay with this than the BBs. MM depends upon your area. The LevFin guys Ive talked to seemed to be okay with it

I have actually seen this once. I had to go back to the office at 3am to post something up on IntraLinks and I found one of the associates in my bullpen in his boxers and dress shirt. I just shrugged and uploaded the doc and left.
