Bump- anyone know anything else about what this office does? Still mainly MM Industrials/Consumer Retail? Has it grown much in past years or keeping it generally the same size? And what is the size of the office- total, and analysts?

The GS Office in Chicago is hiring and trying to get a better understanding of what the office is like. I know they support FIG and Industrials out of the office (primarily sell-side).
No IBD for GS - Chicago? (Originally Posted: 08/01/2010)
On the GS website their Investment Banking is organized into 2 groups: the Investment Banking Division and the Finance (ECM, DCM, Structured Finance, Pensions) team. When filling out the application, one can apply to up to 2 locations and up to 2 groups. If I select that I want to apply to the Investment Banking Division of "Investment Banking", Chicago does not come up as a possible location to send the application to. It looks like there's only a Finance team in Chicago. Anyone know anything about this?
FIG is financial institutions group, not fixed income.
like FIG, industrials is just an industry coverage group within investment banking. industrials include railroads, airlines, construction etc.
other industries include the aforementioned financial institutions - banks, insurance companies, and sometimes governments are included within this group.
then there's TMT (technology, media, telecom), healthcare, natural resources, etc. All of these are simply different industry coverage groups within investment banking.

GS - Chicago has FIG and Industrial
So they have Fixed Income Group and Industrial. Thanks.
Forgive my ignorance but what is the difference between Industrials and the traditional Investment Banking Division?

Wow, thanks for the explanation!
