Houlihan Lokey Restructuring - Best Office Location?

At an info session on campus earlier this year, the HL guys said that their 8 offices are spread out throughout the US so that no office is really a satellite office. Can anyone vouch this?

I have an office visit coming up in one of their non-NY offices, but I was thinking about trying to move it to the NY office simply because I want to work in New York. Is this feasible pre-office visit, or is this something I should bring up after getting an offer?

For what it's worth, I've been keeping in touch with an alum in the NY office who seems willing to help me out. However, I don't know if I should secure the offer first, or if I should just aim to move my office visit to NY.

Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It might be easier to get an offer from a regional office depending on the schools represented.

This is my biggest concern. Only makes sense to get the offer first, then entertain my options.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I agree with most of the advice written here, so I'll only comment on the relative importance of the US offices. NY/LA is where you want to be at. Those are the main hubs of activity from where you'll see the largest and most important assignments pass through. The other offices are generally not as good from a deal experience perspective.

I heard you can wear shorts to the office in Minneapolis....on the regular.

Also heard that the Mpls office does bigger deals than Chicago. Chicago sources exclusively from the area, whereas Mpls is doing stuff from multiple regions.
