Is it True Everyone on the Street calls Citigroup Shittygroup?
Heard from a couple banks they refer to citi as Shittygroup in their bank, is there any validity of this?

Career Resources
yes it is true
Haha... very true indeed... no offense to a good bank but people see Citi as merely a financial behemoth without much quality... problem of being too big and having the retail banking part which hurts perception
its also a funny name just like douche bank
everyone i've met from Deutsche Bank is actually a douche though
shittygroup douche bank moron stanley
Goldnut Sacks
something tells me this one is not really used.... haha
why is it called shittygroup? bad culture, opportunities, workload?
all three
also not to forget an important MM player, Hokey Lokey Pokey
Other banks can call it whatever they want. Too bad shittygroup is eating them for lunch on the league tables while they're thinking of clever wordplay.
Don't they literally work for free to get more deals?
Merrill Lynch = Murder Lynch 'em
Exaggerating a bit obv, but I thought on average Citi makes less per deal and has to do a much higher quantity in order to get to those numbers.

GS: 2.99mm/deal Citi: 2.38mm/deal MS: 2.22mm/deal JPM: 2.76mm/deal Leh: 2.83mm/deal

http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/03/30/goldman-and-citi-lead-deal…] I think you misread. They're talking about average deal size (in billions), not average fee per deal (which was xistguru's point).
Re-read the article.
That is definitely deal size they are talking about
yeah, my bad. That's the average deal size. However, there is a correlation between deal size and fees in general.
no shit
Some guys at a top tier hedge fund that left GSAM like to say it.
Look at the latest league tables, Citi is tops in almost every category. In terms of prestige and exit opps, Citi's communications, M&A, and chemicals group are right up there with GS/MS. And in case you were wondering, I don't work for Citi.
I can second that post from Bankerspi. Citi is widely called "Shittygroup"... and is also currently topping many (perhaps most) league tables. And I've heard the exit opps are fine.
actually if you read the latest Thomson, Citi actually does fewer deals than MS, JP, ML. Which means they make more in fees per deal. Everyone is bad mouthing Citi and JP because they are the big hitters these days.
See above. New league tables have Citi back down again. Anyway, it's not just the street that calls it Shittybank. Everyone does.
you guys are idiots. they are just using a "funny" name to refer to another bank. this is nothing more than that
People on the Street are lames.
A person I know, who is Indian, Paki, or something like that, has difficulty saying certain words.
At his interview with Citigroup, he said something along the lines of "I vant to vork for Shitigloup because...."
Needless to say that he was promptly shown the door by shitty group.
HAHA shittygroup. i thought Citi was respected quite a bit, they have good groups there.
