NYU Stern student sets the world record for getting clipped from any future IB opportunity

NYU sophomore going through recruiting records and posts a Spotify podcast with all of their friends shitting on "lower tier" banks, all of the clubs, and the “bots” at Stern, extremely hateful language and 0 filter

The podcast gets sent to all of his interviewers and his interviewer (stern alum) who was supposed to interview him this Friday sends this:

“We can cancel Friday’s interview.

This is an ass SoundCloud - bunch of students whining about the recruiting cycle and how everyone seems to be either privileged or super type A at the school

Unsure why the students would choose to upload this to SoundCloud thinking this is stuff people would want to tune into, it sounds like a generic cafeteria lunch convo

Turned it off after about 5 min, though on brief listen guest in question sounds pretty slow/vapid, but the hosts seem somehow worse. Gives a sense of hating from outside the club/acting like you’re too good to go through the motions/a need to feel like you’re “different”. Like rejecting the process to either feel unique or rejecting the path before it could reject them.

Regardless, not someone I’d feel comfortable putting near clients and not someone you’d trust to help in the trenches with you.

Can't find the podcast but he probably had a point. God I fucking hate the bots from clubs.

Needless to say, if you want to be a banking analyst, do not make podcasts or tiktoks of any kind

Accurate. As your school gets more prestigious, it becomes easier to get an offer. Avoid no-name/generic state schools like the plague. More difficult to get an offer, and the few spots that exist are contingent on luck, and plenty of those students are willing to do anything to get lucky.

Accurate. Once you get down below Cornell, Michigan, NYU Stern (avoid NYU CAS like the plague), it gets horrible. Generic state schools can potentially field one or two spots for insanely proactive students. However, even then, getting the offer in this situation requires insane luck, and plenty of students at these places will resort to anything to be lucky.

Agree with some points that were made specifically about internship recruiting and such. Also, no hate towards people trying to make content here but people should either:

- Have something original and not generic (everyone knows how stressful undergrad recruiting is, how the campus events are a huge networking sausage fest and that finding an internship can be largely either unfair or based on luck)

- Make positive or funny stuff

- Share knowledge, create valuable insights that people want to listen to rather than opinionated gossip or rants

I listened to the beginning of a vid and it sounded like the hosts didn't like people who are driven, people from seemingly privileged backgrounds, international students or people from diverse backgrounds, which is basically the vast majority people working in finance lol

It's tough to listen to rants saying "everyone and everything suckss!" because that's just sounds like a bummer attitude to hold in general and people won't want to listen to that

Agreed, the students sounded so negative and whiny the entire time about their job search, which is already such a boring topic to begin with. No need to get upset or butthurt over other people who are working harder to get an internship though

I mentioned this in another thread months ago, but, apart from the super target schools, OCR has been pretty much replaced by club recruiting nowadays. If you're unable to get into the top clubs, you're pretty much on your own

He’s not wrong, our school is filled with NPCs and hardos. Most uninteresting ppl I’ve ever come across in my life.

I think anything he may have said was likely stuff most would already agree with anyways, it doesn’t change anything

lol wouldn’t give a sh*t tbh

Ask any grad, they’d share the same sentiment - could be great orgs for learning but very networkey, everyone is type A, everyone wants to do IB, alums tend to help a handful of kids but clubs can have hundreds of members, then when people get their summer internship offer, they mostly check out and no longer participate in the orgs but may try to help a handful of people they know in the next 1-2 classes. It’s not too different from WSO lol

Lol Ik this kid from school, if you were to ask anyone at Stern before this who would do this it would be the kid that did it, he has a rep fs lol

This is such a boring podcast, no wonder only a few dozen people listen to this. Why would they bother to make a SoundCloud channel to post their rants about job recruiting?

Maybe they thought this could be a profitable idea to make a podcast about recruiting and college and feature other people on it lol

They're both uninteresting relative to other content creators in nyc as well, listened to the link for a few minutes but just couldn't, sounds like any generic conversation you'd hear from students at any school

Making internship recruiting podcasts is not the way, especially for undergrads lol

The creators of nyutypical should definitely close the podcast if they haven’t already and focus on actually getting an internship/ job

What's the point of doing this, they should go find a job instead of making recordings of college kids talking to eachother in a room. Mega cringe and they're not helping themselves in any way by doing that

How did the haters find out where he was interviewing? The prospect of openly announcing you’re part-taking in an interview is absolutely absurd to me, I’d keep that as close to my chest as possible.

World record for getting clipped from IBs? I think Aleksy Vayner takes the cake RIP. His video made him a mockery of all the IBs

Impossible Is Nothing (video résumé) - Wikipedia

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Educational podcasts are much more interesting, or ones about self-help and improvement

Whining about undergrad recruiting is just boring and it’s already what every sophomore and junior college student gets stressed over until getting an internship anyways

I'm pretty sure I know this kid. Let me tell you - If I'm right and he's the guy on this podcast, he's INSUFFERABLE. Insanely stereotypical jordan belfort wanna be, rich parents with privileged background and has a crazy ego that he does not deserve lmfao. Incredibly disrespectful kid and just not a good person at all. I'm sure he worked hard during recruiting, but given his attitude and blatant lack of respect for everyone around him, every bank that dropped him dodged a massive bullet. He's deactivated his instagram and linkedin too lmfao.

Just goes to show, you can be as smart as you want, you can be as privileged as you want, if you're not a good person inherently then good things won't come your way. I'm so glad I grew up in a modest household where my dad slapped the crazy out of me whenever I acted disrespectful

I have heard they didn't come from a privileged background, which is also likely why these two seem to try so hard to bash on others on their campus who did yet are still grinding to achieve their goals.
