Does anyone know what this group does? JP Morgan has a group entitled SPG Max Recovery...I found an old alumnist who currently is within this group and want to know a little before I contact him. SPG may be structures products group but is max recovery the recovery of debt?? Any thoughts on this or this as a career??

Bobb is correct. SPG is the Securitized Products Group, so covers everything ABS related (RMBS, CMBS, CDOs). It entails specific groups such as structuring, syndication, origination, sales, trading. I know a bit about the group, but have never heard of max recovery. Is this in London or NYC? My best guess might be the recovery of outstanding (defaulting) ABS that may have been originated through JPM or ABS that were bought up by JPM (they also do principle investing) and are currently not trading at par/can't fulfill their repayment schedules.

I believe SPG at JPM is the Securitized Product Group. Not sure what Max Recovery is
