League Tables - Private Equity Financial Advisors

Does anyone have access to ThomsonONE Investment Banking leagues tables or similar league table data?

I'm looking for the league tables for M&A financial advisors for private-equity backed deals. US rankings would be most helpful.

M&A Advisor rankings are not available in Thomson's Quarterly Reviews for specific sectors apart from a few.

Thanks!

Hmm, actually you can.

2010 YTD Any US Involvement | Financial Sponsor (inc. PE and VC) http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/9187/fsytd.jpg 2009 Full Year Any US Involvement | Financial Sponsor (inc. PE and VC) http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/5661/fs09fy.jpg

Can't remember if I searched for announced deals or completed deals.

BB, can you post the new 2010 YTD rankings, 2008 YTD and 2007 YTD so we can get a clearer picture on firms' prominence in Sponsor coverage?

Thanks!

From the imaged rankings provided, it looks like BAML is not in good standings. Why do people in some threads say that BAML is one of the best - comparable with JPM?

I don't think anyone will argue JPM is head of BAML at this point....but it's not a far stretch to imagine in a few years JPM and BAML dominating in the league tables as the 2 best universal banks. BAML and JPM are I think 1, 2, or 3 in equity and debt and both are top 5 in M&A so they're both great banks to work at.

Could someone please post the 2007 & 2008 ThomsonONE Investment Banking leagues for Full Year US Involvement | Financial Sponsor? I just want to get a full view from 2007-YTD. I appreciate it.

fair enough

You should realise that there is not an abundance of PE information available to people who do not have access to software such as Bloomberg etc. etc., I don't know if you will be able to find the detail you seem to be after unless you can get access to the software that banks usually use

Alright Joe - I'm done being a dick.

But really though, although some of you guys might think that all this information becomes infinitely easier to find once you get on board at bank, it really doesn't. A significant portion of your time (esp. if you're in a coverage group) is spent mining for industry data, company information, or whatever other arcane piece of information you need to put into a graph that your associate/VP/MD thinks might make page 56 of tomorrow's pitchbook even more perfect than it was back when you were on version 27 (when everyone STILL knew the deal had zero chance of getting done.)

Although we have access to Bberg, CapIQ, FactSet, and a few other helpful databases, it's still a bitch. Especially when it comes to PE or private company info, there really isn't a whole lot out there available to the public.

PELeagueTablePro? jokes, that was way funnier than your usual drivel

Please, please do pinpoint where I was "making shit up"....I've tried to be as non-specific as possible, because I know you are always lurking in the WSO shadows....waiting, just waiting until I post something so you can wade on in there with a witty barb and then swiftly depart, with little or no added value, other than comedy value of course.

But everyone likes a laugh, so keep it up bro!

btw, are you seriously trying to say that it's NOT easier to gain access to data on PE firms while working in an investment bank than it is as a member of the public?

The only way you can gauge fund performance on an apples to apples basis is to compare similar sector focused funds of similar vintages by both IRR and cash on cash returns. This information is typically only seen on extremely confidential PPM and fund marketing materials. No league tables exist, and there'd be no other measure worth looking at, anyways.

As for % of fund by sector, your best bet is looking at fund websites.
