that it will go 30, 40, 50 at the top firms for 1-3rd years.

this isnt based on any confirmed intel but thats my feeling based on what was paid in 01-02 and how much the associates got in december.

big unitYeah that was a pretty stupid bump

However, I'm guessing even TARP banks are going to be paying out bonuses in the 15K-30K range for 1st years across front office (IB / ER / S&T)

1st year analysts traditionally have had the same bonus buckets over the past few years, regardless of which front office role they are in - I don't see that changing in the near future.

Sorry, but my understanding was that while IB was getting $60-90K, ER for example would get $30-50K or about half of what IB gets. Correct me if I am wrong.

You are wrong. Read my post above. 15-35k for IBD. Average will probably be in the 20-25k range.

Stk - from what I've seen, 1st years across all front-office positions generally are paid on the same bonus range. I don't know why this is the case, but its been a common practice. The pay scale DOES diverge significantly after the analyst level. Of course, I do not have infinite data points so feel free to add on

I will hit every 60k 1st year bonus bid out there. No way in hell its not happening dream on. No one is getting 60k. Do you schnooks realize how bad things are right now.

STK123 - For 1st year analysts, the bonus pay is same for all front-office from what I've seen. However, bonus pay diverges more and more as a career progresses - maybe that is why we have conflicting beliefs on what the case is.

I agree that pay diverges more as a career progresses, but I just never heard of any first year ER analyst earning a $90K bonus like IB analysts two years ago. I am pretty sure that my bank (BB) paid ER analysts slightly lower bonuses like 50K (when IB was getting 90K), and I heard that it is similar at other banks.

STK123 - You might be right, perhaps all front-office positions have the same lower limit on bonus ranges but certain parts of IB have higher upper limits - not sure. I tried looking up more info in the forums and most have said all first years are paid on the same bonus scale. At the places I am familiar with, this is also the scale, though its intuitive that IBers make more (since they work more hours...produce more direct revenue...etc.) I guess its pointless to debate since we're both probably right - anyone else care to weigh in?
