Booz - Differences?

Hey what's the difference between Booz&Company and Booz Allen Hamilton? And don't ding me for the question, but which is more prestigious? Haha.

Before I get monkey shit on, let me say I did google this and I see that Booz was spun off from Booz Allen Hamilton. However, I read articles referencing Booz and don't know which one is being referred to.....is Booz&Co more well known? Is it a better place to work?

Thanks much.

As you found out, Booz & Co spun off from BAH. At that point, Booz & Co was doing strictly commercial consulting and BAH was doing strictly federal consulting. Initially, BAH had a non-compete with Booz, so they didn't branch out into each other's spaces. However, that non-compete agreement expired so BAH will soon be doing commercial consulting as well.

In terms of "prestige", obviously both are well-known in their spaces. In federal consulting, BAH is certainly a great name, as is Booz & Co in commercial consulting. So no real direct comparison in terms of prestige!

run4rungoing out on a limb here, but the average WSO user would say booz & co is substantially more prestigious i.e. much better exit opps both to B school and corporate. Booz & co competes with MBB, Monitor, Parthenon, LEK, etc. BAH competes with IBM, Accenture, Deloitte.

Different ball game, but its your own call.

Couldn't agree more. Booz and Co hourly rates are comparable with MBB and Monitor. BAH has much lower rates due to government contracts. Booz and Co hires MBAs and post-grads from top schools. BAH primarily hires UGs. Booz and Co compensation is much higher than BAH. That said, BAH affords a better, more relaxed lifestyle. Booz and Co is known for it's brutal travel schedule.
