Booz Allen vs. Booz & Co.

I understand the recent history of the two firms regarding the buyout and subsequent split but now that Booz Allen's three year non-compete is up they're trying to build out their commercial practice.

Booz Allen started recruiting at my school for commercial roles and I was wondering if people viewed the two firms as similar in exit opportunities and MBA admissions or if Booz Allen still had some catching up to do.

I know people at both firms and I am looking into a possible job at one. Booz Allen is the public sector side and Booz & Co. is really good internationally (best in the Middle East for instance). In terms of public sector consulting, you can't beat Booz Allen. It's all what kind of projects you want to work on.

James Fisher from Booz Allen Hamilton here. Actually, beyond our U.S. government focus, Booz Allen Hamilton has a long history of supporting Middle East North Africa clients both in the public and private sectors, in key industries and ministries. We’ve designed, implemented and delivered results on key initiatives in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt. We’ve been conducting cyber-related business in the Middle East since the time of our separation with Booz & Co. in 2008 – that was permitted in our agreement. Since last summer, though, we’ve greatly expanded our presence in the Gulf region, with our regional headquarters in Abu Dhabi. We’re focusing on delivering end-to-end solutions for clients in the areas of cyber, health care and financial services/Integrity. We are focusing on three general areas in our U.S. commercial practice: financial services, health care and energy. We currently have very active commercial offices in New York and San Francisco, with other commercial folks situated in different parts of the country. The commercial business is growing, but I can't share any specifics about that --- we've just announced that our next earnings call will be on May 30th, and our executives will provide any update on our commercial business then.
