Boston Career Forum - Anyone been to the career forum?
Anyone ever been to the Boston Career Forum?
I'm white, dont speak Japanese and im thinking of going, any suggestions?
I have some other asian friends going (korean, chinese etc) who dont speak any japanese either, is there a possibility they could be more successful at the conference?
hey I'm astonished to see someone here talking about the BCF! I've been there last year, still thinking about whether to go this year.
Pertaining to your question, I'd say it depends which division you're going for... if it's S&T I don't think Japanese is an absolute MUST, however preferable. I'm pretty sure though that if you convince them why you want to work in Japan you're good to go.
For IBD though, and I see you posted this into the Banking section, they want absolute Japanese fluency.
If there's more you want to know, don't hesitate to ask man
Are there any other Japan bankers / will-be bankers out there?
I also noticed though, that there is some recruiting for HK, SG and even America there. Is this done in such a small amount that its negligible? Basically, my question is: are the only jobs available there for Japan?
.
sorry to bring this back from the dead, but i couldn't really find anything on the boston career forum through search.
my questions is, i absolutely do not speak any japanese, but am interested in recruiting for HK/Asia internships. I am fluent in mandarin. Would the fair be appropriate for someone like me? Thanks.
They do recruit for positions in HK&Singapore, I believe. My friend got an offer from Nomura in HK at BCF.
I'm consideing to go to the BCF next year to see if there's any luck:-)I'm Japanese/English Bilingual
Boston Career Forum - Anyone interviewed with them? (Originally Posted: 12/04/2009)
Has anyone here who interviewed at the Boston Career Forum heard back yet? Barclays Capital in particular
not yet, im very interested in this company also. which position u interviewed for
I interviewed for FT IBD analyst position.. how bout u? im wondering if the final results have come out yet or on the way
oh, i interviewed w/ 4 people at bcf becos its very unorganized and whatever you interview for is kind of arbitrary. My japanese is not good enough for IBD, so i did FX S&T and research instead/
you interviewed with 4 ppl from BarCap??
guess they still havent posted the final results
yep, i did w/ head of fx trading, head of fx sales, equity sales, and equity research. u may call to ask, they are very friendly. my situation is too messy, not the same.
so did you get the result or no?
yea, sales at tokyo. being at tokyo is all i care abt. lol.
sales in tokyo is the new equities in dallas
u dont get it. only las vegas can be comparable to tokyo. what's life for.
I hope to god you're flame. Enjoy sales.
u r so mean even to a girl. how could you are so negative to life.
Curious,
if the HR says the final result is on its way and can 't tell you exactly when, are they really finalizing it or does it mean you're cut loose?
it's my first time
Does anyone have any Barclay's HR contact from the Boston forum. If yes, kindly let me know. Thank you!
Also, did anyone interview for the FX/ Forwards trading opportunity during the forum? I did, and now when I tried to reach the person I interviewed with, I came to know he has left the firm. So, was wondering how to pursue this further.
Any thoughts would be really appreciated. Thank you!
you interviewed with whom?
omg who left? within fx trading

would it be possible to secure an FT offer in S&T at a BB in japan at the BCF without knowing any japanese? also, is it possible to obtain interviews on-site without having pre-scheduled interviews beforehand? i know it's probably difficult if not impossible, but I don't have much experience with the BCF so I just want to know for sure. I was mainly trying for HK/SG positions which aren't hiring much right now, and so I'm considering all possibilities.
