Career Advice Appreciated

Hey guys,

Quick question: I'm a 2nd year student at a target with a 3.2 GPA (hard major, hard minor) and will be working at a little-known boutique (about $3.5B in deals last year) over the summer. I have very good leadership positions at school.

What are my chances for getting into a group at one of the top BBs?

In terms of how to better my chances:
1) Is my GPA going to be a huge factor? What if I can raise it to a 3.4?
2) I have a friend who did very well on the GMAT during fall of his junior year. Would you recommend this, maybe to offset the bad GPA?

Thanks a lot and I appreciate any advice.

3.2 is very very rough unless / even if you are an engineering or physics major, you will need to network a lot but your experience should help you do well in interviews if you manage to get them. 3.4 is more manageable but still will require networking

not sure about GMAT, but my perception would be a good GMAT might show you are smart but not focused enough to do well in school (even if that isn't true since school and GMAT test two different things) which could be a strike
