I currently live in Montreal. Born and raised in French as well. Whether or not you’ll encounter difficulties as for the language barrier really depends on where you work. I know tons of English-speaking folks working in MTL that only know the words ‘’Bonjour’’ and ‘’Oui Oui’’. However, you guys might correct me if I’m wrong here, but I think that once you get in bigger places such as the big pension funds, a minimum proficiency in French is required.
I do not know much about the HF scene though.
In any case, you’ll like the city. The women are hot and approachable, even the French-speaking ones.
