omg i'm majoring in Finance & International Business too!! good to know i'm not alone :) on topic: start networking really aggressively if you want IB
Best advice: drop your finance major off your resume and just include "International Business" Then you can state your major GPA as 4.0 without actually lying.
The resume screener doesn't give two shits about your double major. What they look for is the nice shiny GPA number at the top of the resume.
what if I am applying to finance internships though?
For banking your major is a negligible consideration. A lot of people on this site make a big deal out of "should I major in finance versus econ" or will my "minor in accounting help?" The truth is, we probably won't even read your major.. In a big stack of resumes most are looked at for 15-20 seconds at most.
GPA, however, is one of the largest deciding in who gets an interview (this is probably the first thing I notice, followed by school, SAT scores, work exp, in that order)
Is this okay if I've only taken 2 of the 4 courses for my International Business minor? I'm in the 3rd one right now and the 4th I cannot take until I have junior standing so next semester.
It won't matter at all. The resume screener / interviewer don't see your transcript or anything so they won't have a clue as to how many classes you have (or haven't) taken.
Find anyone you know that can help your resume stick out. Any friends/family members that have experience hiring are a great source. If you are fortunate enough to have a professor that actually had a career in the industry seek them out for resume advice as well.
