Decorating apartments, furniture etc
How do you guys afford to furnish your apartments? I figure I'm going to have to buy everything...bed, sofa, tv, curtains, dishes all that crap.
How can we afford this given that our 10k sign on will be cut in half by taxes and then in half again on rent + deposit.
Spend some time on craigslist. It's an easy way to pick up basic things for not a lot of money, particularly if you aren't overly concerned about having a money bachelor/ette pad (at least right away).
Also, a lot of BBs have swap boards where you can pick up some nice stuff relatively cheap.
You can find some good stuff on craigslist.
I would just shell out the money for a mattress, you def don't want to get that on CL. Possibly the same with the couch. Ikea is a good place to get that sort of stuff if you're on a budget.
Can always take the ferry to IKEA if you want cheap furnishings.
Craigslist, Ikea, and a buddy with a truck
Step 1 on the road to becoming a BSD: recognizing how far one has to go to get there.
Also, you don't pay that much in taxes, even in the city.

What kind of idiot would shell out $400-$1000 for a bean bag chair.
It's not just a bean bag chair... It's a lovesac
