Ever Taken an Aptitude Test?..I just did...fuck me
I just finished an hour-long aptitude test for a software firm. Shit was hard with respect to the letter sequence and math problems haha. Caught me by surprise as I didn't think I would go through something like that. Who else has taken this?
I did one not too long ago for an F500 internship. It literally had hundreds of problems so I don't think I was supposed to be able to answer all of them. So mine wasn't too hard except that because I couldn't finish it I didn't know if I did well or not. I doubt I got any wrong but I didn't know if I got enough correct. I got the call for a final round interview so I guess I did well enough.
I took one for a "temp" style job when I first graduated and I am pretty sure I nearly lit the machine on fire with my brilliance. Granted it was a mediocre aptitude test and mainly geared towards some of the main job functions. It was timed so I blazed through it as fast as I could...ended up getting a total of 2 or 3 wrong but was like 99%+. The recruiters commented on my score, which I didn't think much of because it was all so basic...part of it reminded me of an online IQ test. Then on the first day I remember some of the other people talking about how they passed by just a question or two and it was so hard and they turned and looked at me and asked what my score was...I just told them I barely passed, lol.
I also took the ASVAB, which is the aptitude test you take to get into the military. I took the practice exam at the recruiter's office and he was shocked and became excessively eager to sign me up...selfish asshole. I took the real one and did well enough to qualify for every job in the military...or so I was told, lol. Funny thing was, I wasn't breaking records or anything (I'm not a genius, just know a little about a lot) but people who saw my file always commented on my scores...granted they were HR clerks, etc.
Some of these things can be absolutely silly though.
As a side note, I recently was reading about the aptitude test that college players take at the NFL combine (Wonderlic Test). Oddly enough the offensive lineman average the highest scores, though John McInally, a punter/WR out of Harvard is the only player to ever score a confirmed perfect score on the test. Ryan Fitzpatrick, the current QB for the Bills, who is also a Harvard grad, was said to have scored a perfect score on the test, also completing it in 9 minutes, but at some point debunked the myth when he admitted to leaving at least one of the questions blank. Come to find out he "only" scored a 48 out of 50. On the other end of the spectrum, Vince Young scored a 6 on his first attempt, lol.
Regards
Neither, it was WHILE
o yeah i have taken the wonderlic for a class last year because the teacher raves that we will be faced with that "challenge" upon graduating and job seeking. It is interesting and the NFL players are the ones who are focused on for scoring purposes.
The test I took was a 3 part - Alpha Sequence, Picture Sequence, Math part I need to brush up on my simple math skills
