I believe for IBD this year, they have a system where you start as a generalist M&A and in a ~5 months you move into a specific vertical and the vertical is chosen based on your prior exposure in those ~5 months, deal flow, fit, etc (not sure how much preference is factored in - if anyone knows that would be great).

Went to EVR in August, ultimately chose to to continue to pursue recruitment... PM if you want to chat.

'Before you enter... be willing to pay the price'

interviews are going to be more technical than the avg IBD interview. however, a question regarding PIK interest is not particularly difficult in my opinion and is fair game in even less technical interviews.

on a side note, EVR is hiring 10+ people through OCR outside of their intern class so would you guys agree that the rapid expansion is likely to dilute the analyst experience?

No, the firm is growing aggressively as they win new business. They have over 950 employees and are expanding their global footprint, headcount, and business reach. There will be no dilution, it is an excellent firm where you will have a good experience.

MadMax's comment is right; typically around the 6-month mark you are funneled off into an industry vertical.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

I agree...but if they are adding 10 people (even as they win business), not everyone can exit well if that's what they want can they?

Not everyone was going to exit well in the first place. Even though EVR is a fantastic place, their name will only get you into the interview. Closing the deal is entirely on you.
