so who has been through an Evercore interview for full-time hire... what kind of questions did you get? also, does Evercore cover LBO modeling in its M&A group?
thanks in advance!

Question: If a certain treasurer at Evercore forwards your resume to HR for a SA position in IB would it usually be looked at? What if the applicant is from a Canadian school (not Ivey or Queens)?

can anyone help please?
For first year analysts you don't have a specific group - you can ask them to assign you to whatever kind of deal you want. They do have LBO assignments, as well as acquisitions, restructurings, recaps, divestitures, ipos, etc.

Evercore just started putting analysts into verticals this year. Still no product groups though, all industry teams in-house the M&A and sponsor-related work
I believe for IBD this year, they have a system where you start as a generalist M&A and in a ~5 months you move into a specific vertical and the vertical is chosen based on your prior exposure in those ~5 months, deal flow, fit, etc (not sure how much preference is factored in - if anyone knows that would be great).
Went to EVR in August, ultimately chose to to continue to pursue recruitment... PM if you want to chat.
Pretty technical, PIK interest concept came up in an accounting question
interviews are going to be more technical than the avg IBD interview. however, a question regarding PIK interest is not particularly difficult in my opinion and is fair game in even less technical interviews.
on a side note, EVR is hiring 10+ people through OCR outside of their intern class so would you guys agree that the rapid expansion is likely to dilute the analyst experience?
No, the firm is growing aggressively as they win new business. They have over 950 employees and are expanding their global footprint, headcount, and business reach. There will be no dilution, it is an excellent firm where you will have a good experience.
MadMax's comment is right; typically around the 6-month mark you are funneled off into an industry vertical.
I agree...but if they are adding 10 people (even as they win business), not everyone can exit well if that's what they want can they?

Anyone have any experience interviewing for Evercore? What kind of questions do they ask, how difficult and intense are the interviews, are there case study questions, brainteasers, technical stuff etc...? Anything else that might be different from other banks...?

I think there have been a few threads on this, but from my experience: - They normally only hire people who have been in a rigorous finance/acct program (i.e. wharton ugrad) - Interviews were very intense, straight into "walk me through dcf, define X and Y" - Good luck!
thanks. I have an interview tomorrow with their restructuring group.
Is Evercore's restructuring group even that great? I've always been under the impression that they fall beneath the top players (BX, LAZ, HLHZ, Miller Buckfire, Rothschild) and even among boutiques they struggle to get restructuring deals with Moelis and PWP getting some play.

The firm as a whole is grouped with the "uber-prestigious." While the restructuring group may not generate as much revenue and close as many deals as say BX or LAZ, it is still very highly regarded. The group has been hired in at least a few recent high profile restructuring deals including GM and LyondellBasell.
