How to follow up on this email with an alum?

I am trying to making a lateral and sent a cold email to an alum working at a competitor. I attached my resume and was pretty straightforward in my initial email. I never expected to hear back but he got back to me a week later saying that he has been really busy and will get back to me at the end of the week. He never did and that was two weeks ago. I've been tied up with other things going on so I haven't followed up yet. What would be the best thing to say back to him? I don't want to screw it up.

Thank him for his response, tell him you appreciate his time and interest, and you hope to hear back at his convenience.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.
