IB vs. Consulting: Why do consultants get MBA after 2 years?
Hi all,
This has been a burning question recently. Why do consultants get an MBA after 2 years, whereas bankers typically don't and exit somewhere else in the industry?
Also, from an MBA acceptance perspective, are consultants generally much more successful then Ibankers? If so, why?
Thanks!
Not a consultant so can only try to answer your questions.

Not sure if consultants are more successful in getting into MBA programs, but if you look at the top employers for MBA programs (in this case HBS), you would say that consultancies send more people to MBA programs.

MBAs out of IB vs Consulting? (Originally Posted: 03/21/2007)
I know that MBAs are a regular parth from consulting but how common is it for bulge bracket IB's to pay for your MBA and help you get to a top US b-school? Also do many bankers have CFA's, etc?
Thanks for the feedback!
