Interview excel test

Hello, I have an interview coming up tomorrow for a Senior Analyst position in corporate finance ( not IB, job description about project planning, forecasting, budgeting and so on) and they told me I would have to take an Excel test at the interview. I asked if it was finance concepts or excel concepts that they were going to test and they told me a little bit of both. I was wondering if you guys know how i can prepare for that test. What finance concepts are they testing ? what excel concepts are "Must know" for these types of tests? Please help as I haven't done this ina while. Thank you

Try using Lynda Excel Tutorials or Train Signal. You can easily "obtain" them on filestube. You can go through both in one day and the Lynda videos have financial analysis and stat segments. That should more than sufficient for excel concepts. When they say "finance concepts" I think it's pretty straightforward; skim through an online corp fin. pdf or go to the Khan Academy's Core Finance section for a refresher.

Thank you. I will take a look at those. I guess Im also wondering how in-depht these tests at interviews are. I can't imagine they are going to ask you to build a financial model and come up with different scenarios from scratch but who knows

Sounds interesting. My guess would be know how to use pivot tables, filters, and the "lookup and reference" formulas. Would you mind posting what the test actually was afterwards?

Yes, i will tell you what the test consisted of after I take it tomorrow. I will make sure to take a look at pivot tables and vlookups. Didn't think of reference and filters, thanks for adding that, i will take a look at those as well.

Hey guys sorry for the late reply. It was actually more of a Finance test than anything. They gave me 2 problems and I had to use Excel to solve them. Oh and it was for a Consulting Company.
