JHU carey or WASHU Olin
Hi everyone
I have to make a choice between Johns Hopkins' Carey GMBA program with Olin business school in WUSTL's MBA program.
Since I'm going back to asia after my graduation, my target was as below:
1. find a internship in the summer of my first year
2. to get a job in finance industry in Hong Kong or Singapore
I understand both of them have some pros and cons
JHU: pros - much stronger international reputation in Asia
- better location and more internship chances?
Wustl pros - better established b-school
- more experienced students( I found that a significant part of JHU's MBA candidates were with less than 1 yr experience
How would you choose between these 2 schools?

I could be wrong but doesn't
I could be wrong but doesn't Olin have a strong connection to Fudan Univ?

This is correct.
WUSTL
WUSTL
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
Hopkins student here (and
Hopkins student here (and from the St. Louis area incidentally).
I would suggest Wash U. It is a much more established program that brings in students who, like you said, are much more experienced. From what I gather being at Hopkins, the business school was never meant to be a traditional B-school, and from what I hear now with the new dean it is moving towards a more healthcare specific focus. No one at Hopkins really even thinks of the business program as far as I can tell (I mean as a significant contribution of the university). Good luck!
thanks all, is there any
thanks all, is there any more comments?
Isn't the Hopkins program
Isn't the Hopkins program only like 5 years old? It's you want a network, and don't care about "building" your school, go to Wash U
Just saying...
I am a Johns Hopkins Carey
I am a Johns Hopkins Carey current student. As a matter of fact, I enjoy my program a lot. Im studying marketing and often can have classes with MBA students. Most of my classmates are very senior, with more than 5 years of working experiences is about the average level. Also, the location is important as you can find part-time/internship jobs way easier than WUSTL, which i think is basically in the middle of nowhere. A friend of mine now is studying in St. Louis and she has to move to NYC to have summer internship...
WUSTL is simply in another
WUSTL is simply in another league from Carey, their program is tier 3/4 WUSTL is a top 20
really? bumping a 10 month
really? bumping a 10 month old thread? anyways, WUSTL would be the better choice.
