Made a mistake on my resume, background check?
Honestly, I didn't mean to represent myself. But I accidently overstated my SAT verbal score from years and years ago by 10 points. Will this be a big issue in the background check once you've accepted an offer?
No.
lol nah man don't worry about it
Nope
you're fucked
Thanks for the responses. Got pretty worried about that.
On a similar note, what if you round a 3.65 GPA up to a 3.7 ... but then it turns out you had a 3.64?
Each one in and of itself isn't so bad, but the stackup looks pretty bad. I also wonder if they'd even catch it, assuming the 3.64/3.65 confusion is because its an averaged value.. lol
Background Check Anxiety--resume error (Originally Posted: 03/21/2010)
Hi All,
I recently accepted an IBD offer and noticed a mistake on my resume/employment application and am worried it might be red flagged during the background check process.
My resume states my most recent internship was from June 2009 to December 2009. My last day however was actually 11/30, the final day in November. I previously thought my last day was the first of December--hence the December end date.
Is this a big deal? If so, do you recommend I contact HR to alert them of this discrepancy?
Thoughts?
Thanks. -RS
I don't think its that big of a deal. You don't know if the bank will give your current bank the exact dates (they wont care about one day) or not. I dont think its worth sending an email over 1 day. As long as you actually worked there from June to November you should be ok.
Not a big deal at all.
I thought you put a 3.9 when really you had a 3.5 GPA, or happened to leave out your felony assault and grand theft auto conviction......you should be fine, don't stress, much worse things come up as red flags for recruiters than that.
I sometimes forget the exact months of start and end dates, so i always just keep the years of service, and only clarify if asked during interviews.
