For PB, here is a list of excel/modeling stuff I did;
-asset allocation analysis
-phase-in analysis
-projected impact of spending on CFs
-projected risk/returns of portfolio based on asset class weightings
-options analysis (covered calls and other hedging strategies)
This is just what I can think of off the top of my head. Also, this is on the investment side of the business. Finally, it really depends on the firm and what kind of proprietary software they have.
I think with AM you will be dealing with portfolio optimization mainly. Depending on how high network your clients are you might be valuing specific companies, real estate, whatever.
