Need Help Choosing Between GS and JPM Offers
Hey everybody, I'm not too familiar with the industry but I'd like some help with pros/cons, potential future options, opinions, hours, etc. of these two offers I have: Goldman Sachs IBD Strats and JP Morgan IB Risk (prbly within Credit Risk). I'd appreciate any feedback asap.
Thanks.
was the ibd strats interview about programming/is that software/product development? I guess it depends on what you want to do
they say its front office, that they're developing quantitative solutions for clients. the interview was mostly math
Strats.
IB Risk is "meh", even if people tout that JPM IB Risk is FO (which it isn't)
Would also say that the strategists/structurers drive a lot of the underlying trading products
hmm ok how about exposure to deals/transactions, and exit opps?
Go with GS IBD Strats. Good group, good culture, good hours, good transaction exposure, decent exit opps. Also you get to tell people you work in GS IBD. I had a few friends in the group, including a roommate, so am speaking based on their firsthand experiences.
what are some of the specific exit opps? b/c i feel like GS is better if i'm 100% sure I want to do Strats for the next 5 years or so
bump
The set of exit opportunities is good (not as strong as GS IBD but still decent). If you want to move to the buyside, some of the analysts met with many hedge funds. Others left finance to take roles in bus dev or programming at startups or even consulting at MBB.
interested as well
bump, guys gotta make my decision soon
