For those who've been through the SA recruiting cycle, what are times of the year where you witness a high response rate? What are times when most analysts are too busy or getting ready for their vacations?
For example, my cold emails of the last week or so have hardly got responses.

Avoid the holiday season
Avoid the holiday season
I disagree with the holiday
I disagree with the holiday seasons if its analysts. If VP and MD, avoid holiday season unless you want to shoot simple holiday greeting.
Best times for analysts/associates is after 8pm/9pm on slow days(how to know whether its a slow day? you cant, its hit or miss). Email too early in the afternoon and your email will be lost forever/forgotten to responded to. Email too late and risk them missing the email in the office(aka, they wont have the convenience of responding on their computers quick/phone chat, and theyll forget about the email the next day when they're bombarded with other stuff)
Gotta be lucky, but you can skew odds if your favor if you try to.
Banking.
I had good luck this season
I had good luck this season calling HR and expressing my interest/asking to speak with some analysts. In many cases, HR would email analysts/associates that same day facilitating a call.
Many emails both to HR and analysts went unanswered, but calls were much more successful. I would be careful with cold calling analysts though. Good luck.

thanks for all the input so far.
Also, if you're at a target,
Also, if you're at a target, where there are tons of alumni in the field, is it more efficient for you to follow up with the non-responders, or move on to others?
I'm looking to send several
I'm looking to send several initial cold e-mails next Tuesday (I feel like sending them on a Friday wouldn't be good and they're not ready to send on Thursday).
Are you guys saying I should wait until after New Years? Until maybe January 8?
They will mainly be targeted at College alumni. One I'm sending to a friend who is an analyst (I'm 1.5 years out of school) so I don't think he will be a problem, but for all the cold e-mails, I wanted to check.
It depends greatly on what
It depends greatly on what field they are in. I get the most responses after the market is closed, which is after 1 in LA. For me, IB has been hit or miss at all times of the day.

I'm actually targeting
I'm actually targeting Consulting firms, so the time might be less of a factor. I usually aim for about 10 AM with them. I figure if I send it super early, they'll see it really quick when they do their morning email check and then go onto more important emails with the thought of responding to mine, but it ends up being forgotten. I figure by 10AM they've settled in and will take more notice of an email...
I received a lot of responses

Haha dude- next Tuesday is
Haha dude- next Tuesday is what the 11th? Holiday season for the analysts and associates begins the 22nd if they are lucky. You are fine to send it then. When you frame your email I would say something like "be possible to speak with you later in the week or sometime after the holidays" if you want to be careful
Sounds good, thanks for the
Sounds good, thanks for the clarification, would that apply to higher ups to? I have a fairly tight alumni community at my disposal and I don't really have any second thoughts about emailing managers/partners etc, just more reservation about when to do it...
Thanks again!
I would send emails to
I would send emails to everyone until the 19th. After that I wouldn't bother until after new years.

If they are alumni yes. If its a small shop, yes. If you want, yes.
I've been at this for about two months and have found that higher ups respond a lot less than analyst. When they do they mostly forward you to admin. Some will be willing to talk to you. Might as well. Just be careful not to become annoying by over doing it with them and by emailing too many people in the same firm.

I guess I've been pretty
I guess I've been pretty lucky in that we already have a fairly small (under 1250 in the college at any one time) but successful alumni base, so I've had decent enough luck with higher ups.
I understand what you're saying about not emailing multiple people at the same firm if it's in banking, but those at consulting shops with multiple locations, would it be okay to do one higher up at each location (for instance, one in the NY office, one in the DC office, one in the Seattle office etc.)...
