Hey guys, anyone know of the reputation of the New School? I've heard good and bad things so just wondering what you guys think?
I want to apply for the MA in Global POlitical Economy and Finance program. Looks really good but would suck if the school is treated as a joke.

You living at Maiden Lane? I lived there in 07 summer... Place was pretty good, the RA on my floor walked in on me and a friend getting uber stoned one night and joined in. She was hot, Stacy was her name I think. Zeytuna across the street will be your friend, as is Stone St and it's offerings. Usually a good amount of GS interns live there...
yessir. I decided it'd probably be less of a headache to walk to the office and take the subway to go out/see friends as opposed to the other way around. I'll keep an eye out for Zeytuna.

It was a serious post but I see I was misinformed about its reputation.
I've lived in NYC for 5 years and never heard of it....
It's a liberal arts college. It's like Pratt if you're an artist, or University of Texas at Austin if you want accounting. If you're thinking about a career at the UN, it's probably a very good bet provided you are good at networking.....
What is it you want to do?
Ideally get into MBB or IB. I wouldnt mind a career in the UN but my first choices are those.
The program seems good but its reputation isnt and brand name matters in this industry I guess..
I'd avoid the program. Never heard of it before seeing it listed on msfhq.com.

Both are newly renovated, and seem like a much better alternative than NYU- and cheaper.
I'm not familiar with the area so pardon me if this question doesn't make sense, but is it your impression that we will be able to choose between the Stuy-town location and the Kerry Hall location or that it will be chosen for us? And are either of these good / reasonable options for someone interning in midtown in IB?
We get to choose. I just submitted my application / paid. I'm up in midtown, and this is a decent location as it is 2 avenues away from the union square subway station.
