Non-finance major from a non-target is there any chance?

I know ideally schools would like to take finance majors from target schools and probably don't like taking non-finance majors from non-target schools.
The only people that I hear getting into banking without a finance major are HYPS kids or kids from other top schools that don't have finance majors.
Is it possible to get into banking from a non-target school without a finance major?
Thanks.

Yes it is possible. Zero margin for error in grades and work experience. I believe someone has already brought up this topic. I am not sure of the subject heading, but look for something with "non-target school(s)".

yes, but you better have a GPA above 3.85 or so, along with a laundry list of ECs and good interview skills. not impossible, just improbable. i know a few at my school who've cracked into IBD for BBs and MMs despite going to a small, nontarget, liberal arts school

From my experience at a non-target, the maths and physics people got interviews a LOT easier than the finance majors.

I got in from a non-target with a non-finance degree. I did have a number of extra-curriculars, 3.7+ gpa, 3 internships (1 of which was ibanking, but not at THAT bank), and some other things. It was really tough breaking in, and most banks didn't care to interview me. Luckily for me I do very well in interview situations and was able to pull through to an offer out of the few (6-7) interviews I received.

this is definitely the best bet for ppl from non-target schools, speaking from my own experience and others' in similar situations. once you get your foot in the door, your odds of getting an offer are much better assuming you have the right GPA, internships, ECs, and most importantly, the right way to present yourself during interviews. good luck!
