Should vegans accept regular people ?

So I was bored / skimming through the internet when I came across this, FUNIEST SHIT EVER !

http://www.active-balanced-vegan.com/accept.html

"Accept them? Hmmmm. . . .

Let’s be honest: they think you plan to change them and their eating habits.

“Please, don’t tell me my chicken is bad!” They say.

Or, your eating habits simply make them look at their own – which may not be very pleasant for them.

They’ll become rather uncomfortable.

It can make them feel angry.

They start thinking about how they wish they didn’t have such high cholesterol levels or those extra pounds.

Then they look at you with your new vegan diet . . . and notice your substantial weight loss and/or your thin, healthy body.

The realization is difficult for them to accept.

It’s especially arduous when it’s your own family – or even worse, your spouse."

It goes on ...

I've been looking at some raw-only vegan threads too, just pure hilarity:

BlackHat:
Vegans are some of the most unhealthy people in the world

Actually, statistically speaking, vegans tend to be much healthier than non-vegans. We have FAR LESS heart disease, cancer, and CVD. Please take a look at the blue zones - those places where people live the longest - Sardinia, Okinawa, and Loma Linda California. While those populations aren't strictly vegan, they do consume less than 1% of calories from animal products. And thus live much longer than non-vegan populations.

Is it possible to be an unhealthy vegan? Sure! French fries and sugar are vegan and awful for you. But overall, a whole-food-plant-based-vegan-diet is going to beat an omnivore diet. That's why many of the world's top athletes have gone vegan for purely athletic performance reasons.

) Yeah, I know right? Memes are so much easier to digest than facts and stats. Info derived from longitudinal health studies consistently show longevity of plant-based eaters over meat eaters.
But those facts and logic are less fun than memes, so best to stick to roast videos.
:) SB to you for the reminder.

You shouldn't say regular but normal people ;)

We're biologically designed to eat meat (hello canines). If you genuinely care that much about the welfare of animals, putting your head in the sand and saying it's not my fault isn't a genuine care about animals, it's washing your hands of the guilt. Those that are serious about animal welfare, eat free range, and buy from responsibly sourced providers. it's better quality anyway. Given that free range animals eat better than 50% of the planet does anyway, I'm not sure their priorities are best placed.

Actually we're not designed to eat meat. Our digestive tracts, jaw structure, and teeth are designed for consuming plants. We have 'cheated' nature by discovering fire and denaturing animal protein. But that choice will get you cancer and heart disease when repeated over decades. Please do some reading first, before you make such claims as "we're designed to eat meat." It's not factual or sound.

Free range as defined by law is absolutely not free range that you have in your mind. These so called free range animals live in cages and coops and are raised on antibiotics. Less than 1pc of the animals consumed in the USA have any semblance of what we might actually call free range. Free range chickens never see the light of day. Google it. You are living in a lovely mental myth that has no bearing on reality.

Disincentivy:
If you care about animals so much, why are you eating their foods?

It takes 18x more plants to raise each gram/lb/quantity of animal protein, and to consume the plants directly. Going vegan is a little step you can take the reduce your environmental impact, to improve your health, and spare animal lives from misery, torture and a horrific and painful death. That's why.

Smoking was very popular decades ago until people started realizing that there is strong correlation between smoking and cancer. You are trying to convince a demographic (younger male in finance) that does not put a high priority on health or animal rights. I would guess that there are very few vegans/vegetarians in the WSO community.

In response to OP, I for one certainly have trouble accepting omnivores. I have them as friends, co-workers and family members. But I tend not to eat with them, unless we order vegan food. It's quite difficult for me to watch others eating meat. Meat also has a very strong and unpleasant smell - like a strong rot - once you're no longer eating it.

One day, I'd like a meat eater who is a pet owner explain to me why it's ok (and not hypocritical) to consider some animals as beloved pets and others as ok to torture and slaughter. When someone posts a video of themselves torturing a dog, or hanging a cat, society loses its sh-t and calls for that person to be prosecuted. We have laws against such actions. But if someone does it over and over again to a pig or cow, somehow, that's an industry. Humans consume 70 Billion animals a year. Each person in the US consumes more than 130 animals each per year. And yet, Americans get upset over dog meat trades in other countries, while applauding killing farm animals in the US. Makes zero sense to me.
