So what do I do now?... Post-Recruiting Woes
Recently I have seen quite a few topics pop up regarding the switch from corporate finance to IBD, and the questions really haven't been answered. I recently have found myself in a similar situation and I figured I would ask here with a complied list of questions that I have seen & want answered.
Just a bit of background on myself I just finished up recruiting for IBD and it didnt end up so hotly for me, I will be going back to a Fortune 50 finance rotation program but, I still wish to do IBD, here are my questions, any perspective is greatly appreciated.
When should I aim to apply/network with IBD again, 1 year into the program, 2 years into the program?
Does age matter? Would firms look down upon an analyst who is 23 or 24 years old?
What types of rotations/roles should I look to obtain during my time there?
How does recruitment function for those who are looking to make a career change? Are we put in the same pools as laterals or as those looking to be hired on as first-year analysts?
Any insight is greatly appreciated, also I have considered the MBA to banking path but, if its possible to break into it earlier I have no problem doing it.

This is what I did and it's working out great!
When would you recommend applying? Wouldn't it look bad if someone applied 6 months into their new job?
Speaking from experience...don't wait. It can be a long process.
Keep calm and network on... that said, should probably stay in your current role for at least a year - but if the opportunity of your dreams becomes available before then, of course you should consider it.
For sure, it seems like I should keep networking strongly and keep in touch with people.
Anything risky or difficult in particular someone who is trying to switch in from an another industry might face?
