Tan suit?
Just found an amazing deal....Oxxford Suit that fits perfectly for $700 and I happen to need another suit. It looks great but it is tan colored. Sorry, I know how annoying these questions are but I'm trying to make the decision and I'm assuming it'll get sold soon if I don't act quickly. People say here that Navy/Gray are the only acceptable colors but tan seems pretty conservative. Is it acceptable to wear when meeting clients or should I just forget it?
Thanks in advance.
Go for it Don Johnson.
Joke. I guess some people may try to get away with it on a Friday in the summer. Aside from that it is utterly ridiculous.
Either you sling crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot
If you want to be the butt of everyone's joke then go for it - if you wanna get noticed for your work and not your dress sense then NO. Hope this helps
There's nothing wrong with a tan suit, as long as it is a good fit and looks neat - especially in the summer.
When did tan become "utterly ridiculous"?
Around 1989. I'm of course talking about in the office. Summer wedding, go for it.

I agree with LTCM
if you are an SA, then don't buy it.
I'm going to be an analyst, not an SA.
Do not wear a tan suit to the office. Be different, stand out, just not in the office and not b/c of what you're wearing.
Clearly, LTCM has never set foot in an office given his advice.
I was going to say the same thing. Same goes for stevenbn.
My buddy wore a tan/beige type suit to the office last summer - 3 steps into the office later - "hey ____ when did you decide to move to the Miami office." In short, no, tan isn't really what you wear at work.
I like tan suits for weddings / christenings / other semi-formal events... but no way in the office. If you like it, go ahead and buy it. Just don't expect to wear it for work.
Like others have said, tan suits are perfectly fine for weekend wear.
Not for the office.
Tan would work perfectly. I think you should go for it. A suit is a suit and you should definitely buy it, and you'll be like the most stylish guy in the office. I mean, it is only banking where you SHOULD be dressing conservatively, but hey, who cares, right. You can be the trend setter. Rock on.
I don't care how good the tan suit looks on you, do not wear it to a client meeting. It would be a career limiting move. If your MD, VP and Associate all wear tan suits then go for it but otherwise stick to dark suits and plain shirts.
If an Analyst in my office were to show up for a client meeting in a tan suit they would be told to wait outside and would never again be asked to attend a client meeting.
What shade of tan are we talking about here? Picture?
