Typical to Get Blackberry?

Might be wrong place to post this, but I'm curious nonetheless. I was wondering if it's typical to get a Blackberry or other device when taking a FT Analyst position at a BB Private Bank? Is this an appropriate question to ask if I'm looking to get a new phone soon (and I start in the Summer)? Thanks.

Nope. It is not

For the most part I'd say yes... but this shouldn't determine whether you get a new phone or not. Get a phone for yourself to avoid being attached to work all the time. If something happens down the road (switch jobs, quit, fired, etc.) your company confiscates the phone as part of the off-boarding process. That would be a ton of trouble if you have personal stuff on there as well.

Plus: iPhone>Blackberry

It's rare to receive a corporate blackberry unless you will need regular access to proprietary or sensitive information or will be expected to be called onto projects on short notice. I'm not sure if that applies to working in the private bank (I imagine it could, given high net worth individual information), but that's the main factor. So for example company blackberrys are the norm in IBD, S&T, and even HR - not necessarily so though for Tech etc. Once again, not sure for the private bank
