When to Make the Jump?
An analyst for 1.5 years at MBB, but being reach out by some pretty nice corp dev/strategy roles. Would it make sense for me to get promoted first and then jump to corp dev or should I just leave now to get more experience in corporate before ultimately jumping to a top MBA? I'm pretty indifferent to both as I enjoy my job but would ultimately want to join corporate.
Depends on the corp job and depends on when you're applying to b-school.
Unless the jump to corporate makes sense in terms of your overall short/long term career goals post-MBA (because you will have to explain this in application essays) I would probably stay in MBB.
you'll find 2 years to be a good mark to start thinking--frequently corp jobs require 2 years of IB/MBB. even private equity does so
Thanks. I've been reached out by several companies and i'll be getting a promotion to a sr analyst role if I make the jump now. I believe I'll essentially get the same role even if I make the jump after just getting promoted to associate.
