Which internship would look better on my resume
This summer i have the opportunity to either do an unpaid internship at a very very VERY small prop trading firm/brokerage or i can get a job with a REIT where i will be primarily working with the sales guys making cold calls and closing. I am a freshman right now and really want a decent trading job when i get out of college so which internship would look best on my resume in the future?
thanks.
if you want to be in S&T long term I would recommend the Prop shop (Will they ask you to put in capital with them, I heard some props are doing it nowadays)
You say you want a decent trading job when you get out of college, so you should DEFINITELY take the small prop trading firm internship. It is very good that you have a relevant internship for freshman summer. The vast majority of freshman will be doing a non-finance internship, a PWM, or no internship at all, so having this experience will definitely help you to stand out and progress to a better one for sophomore year and eventually junior recruiting. It's not all about what looks better on the resume, it's about what you can talk about. If you do the cold calling one you will still get some decent skills but the prop trading one is way better.
By the way, wrong forum.
