which summer to take for FT BB IBD?
Hey all,
I'm trying to get to a BB FT, coming from a semi-target. I'm confident that I'll be able to get interviews in the fall through networking, but I was wondering what summer experience would be best for FT recruiting.
Right now I'm looking at: RBS/RBC, Jefferies, BlackRock, decent MM boutique for IBD.
I assume BlackRock's out of the question (the rest of my options are IBD) because an IBD internship would be the most relevant for BB FT.
Thanks for the help!
I have offers from BlackRock, Jefferies, and the boutique, with another superday to come, but I'd like some help with what you guys think might look best come full time recruiting.
BlackRock or Jeffries...
BlackRock which group? It isn't IBD but the BlackRock brand-name is defintely highly respected.
JEF for sure...
PAG for BlackRock.
I've heard from people in the field that for FT IBD, I'd most definitely want to get an IBD summer internship. Would a boutique offer a better experience, assuming they have decent dealflow, because I'd be one of maybe two interns (or maybe the only intern)? Also, I've heard RBS IBD is not doing as well, but would they be beneath Jefferies?
Thanks
On that note, I also have the chance to interview for positions in risk with two of the BB's (contacts there). I had previously thought that, either way, any IBD would be best for full time recruiting
sorry for the comments, but also, RBC>RBS?
JEF>RBC>RBS
JEF dude, no question. What type of boutique is this? Even if they have good deal flow, you might be stuck doing bs admin work / updating CRM shit as an intern at the boutique (assuming were not talking about Lazard, PWP, Evercore, etc).
DuRRRp de durrp durp. You need us to hold your had on this one?
not Lazard, pwp, etc, but a decent boutique in the NY area, mainly deals in the 100MM range. Decent dealflow, but was mainly thinking that, as the only analyst/one of two, I'd get great experience from the beginning to the end of the deal. At all places, they expressed that they were trying to hire their summers for FT, so I'd be sure to have a decent experience.
You think they're going to tell you that your going to be doing bs work? There's less risk with taking JEF, it's a solid name on your resume, and if you kill it at your internship, you will go back to school with an offer in hand from a solid bank.
BlackRock for sure
