Worst typos in work documents or presentations
When I was an intern where I am at now I was working on an internal training piece with co-workers for the Bank I am at. We were talking about how outside vendors conduct tests to try and find weaknesses in our controls.
We were modifying the slide after running through it in our department we were basically saying, "Vendors conduct penetration testing to assess...."
Well when I typed Assess I left off the 2nd S. Penetration testing to asses! When my co-workers delivered it at least only two people noticed (Although one of them was the Bank Senior VP).. but we definitely had a laugh about it!
What are some of the worst typos you've done, or seen in client or multiple employee facing presentations or documents?
"Public" without the "l." I once worked at a magazine called The Public Interest.
All-time favorite was Ms. magazine misspelling "feminism" on the cover of an issue ("feminisim").
Fatal Presentation error (Originally Posted: 03/25/2013)
Hi Monkeys,
I just made a terrible mistake in an important client presentation. Trying not to kill myself over it. Any advice pls?
It was at the end of our meeting and my senior decided to show a small deck for 15mins. I projected the deck on the big screen and I realized I pulled up the wrong deck since there's a huge yellow comment box in the middle of the page 15.
I thought about apologizing and opening up the correct deck, but decided instead to just remove the comment box and re-projected the same deck. The client didn't make a noise about that, but my senior was really upset that I didn't change the deck after the whole session.
What did I do wrong exactly in making that choice? The reason I did that was because 1. I know the contents were the same for the 2 decks except that stupid comment box; 2. the clients already made all decisions based on that deck; 3. they didn't seem to pay too much attention to the deck but was rather immersed in their own discussion.
Advice is hugely appreciated!
It doesn't sound like a "fatal" error. You've already talked to your boss about it? Doesn't seem like there is much more you can do other than explain your reasoning, apologize, and move on.
Reading the tags. They blocked your credit card?
lol that actually made me laugh :)
Not fatal. I'm guessing you are
