Rankings of Threads

I think it was CompBanker that brought up a good point about our List of best ranked threads here: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/rankposts

If a great thread got 5 five-star rankings and 1 4-star ranking (for example) it would be below a thread that got 1 five-star ranking.

So I tried a few things and soon realized that the posts that were ranked the most tend to be the best -- so now they are sorted by # of votes and THEN by avg. vote.

So this way all those threads with one vote at 5-stars are not masking some great threads with 10 votes and a 4.8 rating (for example).

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and sorry it took me so long to think of a solution...

Sweet - good thinking.

Nice, good to see, have you though about making a top threads of the day or week or month, kind of like the Most Active Users box?

yeah, issue is do you cut it based on # of comments, # of votes, avg. vote, etc? I actually think # of votes tends to bring out the "best" threads in terms of useful advice...will give it some thought and see if we can get some more views made up.
