I did.
Tons of people in Asia Pacific say no to Goldman Asia, because the company is moving its China operation to Beijing, and few (both expats and Chinese) want to work there.
I know at least a few who turned them down for Perella
thats odd
MS M&A over GS TMT both bay area.
well perella is ex-MS anyway...GS/ms..others..
why Mis Ind?
Why not? What's with your triple exclamation points, Paul? Are you saying that Goldman would be the best choice for everyone all the time?
I don't believe Goldman is "the best bank on Wall Street". I'm not sure there is any such thing.
I know someone who turned down GS for ML for internship.
I know so many people that turned down Goldman. It's obviously a great opportunity but personal decisions have merit too.
Actually that's just within banking, I certainly know more seniors who have turned them down when you throw consulting in the mix
There were at least 3 interns i worked with last summer that turned down Goldman offers, and my roommate actually turned down a Goldman full time offer.
It is all about fit.. GS' culture is not for everybody.. I met a lot of bankers of JPM, ML, GS etc.. You can clearly see the differences... The more nerdy types are with GS.. the more party animal types with ML/JPM Choose the culture where you fit best..
"party people" by banking standards. I wish I was that cool!
GS has a nerdy culture? hmm, what are people at MS like then...

Every bank has the spectrum. frat guys, asians like harold, indians like gopal from leveragedsellout, white people like trench coat mafia, foodclub ivy folk.
what about reggins? you forgot about them
I did--but it was just because I knew a lot of friends who were coming into the same group at LEH. No regrets on my part.
Decided not to take full-time offer. Going to LB instead. Friend turned down Goldman S&T to go to JP Morgan's TMT group, and another two turned town GS IBD to go to McKinsey and Bridgewater
bump
where do the 'frat guys' go then?
