Asking Guild leader for a letter of recomendation?

Hi all!

I was wondering if it's OK to use a guild/raid leader at a letter of reference when applying to IBD at top banks. My reasoning is that if you're in an elite WW top 5 guild you should be able to use the prestige and uberness of your items to get access into a top 5 WW IB or PE firm, like Rutgers. Furthermore, we all know raiding and killing very hard dragons and skeletons are hard work just like IBD I think the letter would be perfect!

When raiding(just like working except no lunch/restroom breaks you use a 2 liter bottle) for 80+ hours a week you have to have insane, assasine and ungodly amount of drive and work ethic, something BB require!

Also, you have to deal with bad coworkers who make your guild/firm bad and are first to go when a recession/patch hit.

What is your opinion?

Thanks!

Also I want this to be in IBD because a lot of us need top tier recommendation letters to stand out against others.

Really the trick is in a humble cover letter. Explain how you're there to spit shine their shoes and eat shit while grinning. Would recommend sending this cover letter over after a meeting at a steakhouse (probably Peter Luger's). Once you have thoroughly shown that you can be humble and not overselll your pwnage skills, ability to pee in bottles while still being a functional raid machine and the fact that 80+ hours of raiding a week is merely the norm for you, then BAM hit em with the guild leader rec.

Just my $0.02

It's commonly known that people go to the restroom right after a wipe!!

blastoise = WSO alpha troll

Based on the level of intelligence, creativity, and consist quality of his trolling, I think a reference from Patrick would actually work to his advantage.

Seriously, "I'm blastoise from WSO" would impress me.

As a former member of the best guild in the U.S. back in the day (Korgath ftw), I think that there is no shame in getting a rec letter from the GM. After all, it shows your dedication to the team, ability to think quickly on your feet, and -- perhaps most importantly -- your quickfast keyboard macro skills as you fly through your spell / hit rotations.

I am interested in what type of exit opps are available after you have done your 2 years at a top 5 WoW. Is the new path Top 5 WoW --> BB IBD --> PE?

Also, should I wear tier 14 for an interview, or would that be too extravagant for an entry level position?

I’ve heard Method has the best exit opps, know a few who went to Goldman. Paragon used to be best, but they havent been the same since Cata hit near the end of the recession.

There are other good ones (Midwinter comes to mind), but they just dont have the name recognition and world first winning experience yet, and as such havent established solid exits.

Whatever you do, try to avoid server first guilds on smaller servers—theyre a trap that will get you stuck in back office roles. I know firsthand—I used to be in one and constantly got contacted by DB for a rotational program between HR, unemployed, and parking deck booth payment processing

I've noted my top 5 Armadyl Godsword / D-Claws specs in the Achievements section of my resume, and megafund headhunters reached out to me within the same week.

I am the real boss baby.
