Do banks pay for my air-fare from Australia to Europe?
Dear all, I'm new here, first time posting.
Just a quick question. I am fortunate and got invited to final assessment center at Soc Gen office in France for their analyst program (they call it global international program?). I'm based on Australia and it's a far trip ahead for me.
Question I have is, should the bank (or Soc Gen in specific) reimburse all of my travel expense? It only says reimbusement is for Europe candidate, and not for overseas.
It costs nearly US$2k to fly up and back for a week (not to menion I'm working full time, so lost income) and another US$1k of accomodation, etc etc... I would not be interested in paying this myself.
Please provide some insight from those seasoned here.
Regards,
In this case it's okay to speak with HR (or whoever arranged for your interview) regarding your tentative travel plans.
Just inquire as to when you can expect to hear from the travel department regarding arrangements and that should tell you what's expected from their response.
Let me know what haps...
Generally they comp it if you get the job (from my experience).
Apparently they are willing to reimburse up to 400 Euro only, and nothing more. this means i'm up for 1000 euro+ of airfare, amongst other hotel fees. I'm quite shocked, I've got head-hunter friends who told me banks will usually pay for interviewer to be flown for an interview. Is this because i'm a mere entry-level person?
They said "many candidates are applying and it's not fair for others etc etc..." the usual cliche.
So, is it really worthwhile to spend nearly US2k for travelling fee (plus lost income) for this interview? Is Soc Gen THAT good of a bank?
