AT Kearney or very small IB boutique summer internship?
I have offers for a summer internship both at AT Kearney as a summer analyst and at a very small (5 people) IB boutique (MD is former Morgan Stanley).
What do you think is a better choice? I am an engineering student, and have not had any finance/consulting internships before.
I'd say AT Kearney (but I'm not sure), especially if you are even thinking about going consulting full-time in addition to IBD. If the boutique IBD is unpaid, an extra $10k is a lot of cash, and the risk of working full-time at a small boutique vs. a well-respected consultancy is not worth it
Small IB if you want to move into IB, ATK if you want to move into consulting. My firm ALWAYS prefers IB experiences to consulting (exception to top 3 obvs).
curious what was your choice for the summer and how you feel about the experience at this point
