Background Check--wrong date on resume
Hi guys:
I just have a quick question about background check. I recently got a full-time offer and have proceeded to the background check process. However, for my summer internship last year, I had put the wrong start date (I just noticed that). The internship itself started in the first week of June, however, since i had relocated to the internship location at the end of May right after my finals, I had May as the starting date for all of my resumes/materials so far.
The end date and the job description are solid and factual, and I don't think they will have a problem verifying them. Am I in trouble? The date I listed is May-July when it should have been June-July. Have you ever heard of anyone being rescinded an offer for it?
Thank you for any feedback!
lol....... you will survive. I promise.
You better pack your shit and head to Mexico.
Unless you're that guy that rounded 3.0 GPA to 3.6, you're fine.
haha, no, i didn't round 3.0 to 3.6. should I tell HR, or should I just wait for the background check to end and hope for the best?
Thank!
Your pissing your pants over week?
reach out first to the people you interviewed with and then HR. you should be fine but you need to take control of the situation before they ask you whats going on with your shit.
don't reach out to anyone!!! no one gives a shit about one week and that isnt something HR will look for in a background check. bringing this up will only make you look like you have something to hide.
i see, oR3DL1N3o, thank you so much!
im basing this off recent personal experience where dates did not match up and i got the shit grilled out of me. what background check service are they using?
I wouldn't even bother with it. Let them raise the question, if they feel that it is a concern.
I believe they are using Power Chex. If you don't mind, could you tell me more about your experience via PM, whatwhatwhat?
thanks!
I think you should be ok
how likely is it that this could be a concern? thanks!
Resume dates wrong! for FT (Originally Posted: 10/31/2011)
hey guys,
just noticed that my internship dates are off by a year. how does this effect my chances. It was by mistake not intent.
Should I follow-up? during the interview or after the offer?
thx
I would definitely bring it up in the interview right after you cite "attention to detail" as one of your greatest strengths.
.... honestly though... I probably wouldn't bother unless it's brought up and don't make such a dumb mistake again.
As long as the time-frame does not clash with something else you should be fine.
Bump...but the year is wrong 2009 instead of 2010
