Barcalys phone interview for NYC analyst
My friend just got me a interview opportunity with Barclays' I-banking team for an entry-level position. I was wondering if I could get any advice on how to study for this interview? I've never had any investment banking experience, instead been focused on real estate. I have had a prior real estate private equity internship over the summer. It's a phone interview with an analyst from NYC. I went to Michigan and majored in Econ if that helps as well.
Ideally you would have some time to be able to skim through the vault guide to finance interviews or one of those booklets to get the basic gist of the interview (although that one goes a little bit too in depth). The most important things are knowing your resume cold and being able to apply it to behavioral questions (greatest strengths and weaknesses, examples of teamwork, etc.) Also read the WSJ in the days leading up to your interview, you should know what has been happening in the economy/markets etc. Also be sure to have answers to why ibanking, and why barclays. As far as technical stuff, just be familiar with how to value a company (DCF, Transaction comps, company comps/multiples) and maybe the balance sheet/income statement/cash flow statement. You can find common ibanking interview questions onine just by googling.
I found out that an associate from the real estate division will facilitate my phone interview. Can you advise?
know all of the bobo cash flow to equity vs cash flow to property stuff, know how to get to NOI and taxable income on a property, know cap rates and how cap rates are derived know DCF and comparables stuff for more general company analysis
also, did you do RE PE in chicago
No, small firm in Philly
