Whens the best time to get in touch with a trader in the morning?
I was just wondering when would be the best time to get in touch with a trader in the morning... I'm not to sure when the morning meeting takes place but understand that the market open and market close are the 2 busiest times to get in touch with such a person. Therefore should I call before market close ? if so what time or should I call at some point between market open and lunch....
If you are uncomfortable calling before 8 then I would call after 445 or so...
....
Thing is... I have a hot lead that was created from calling after 4 and was told to call back tomorow morning. So I ask what time in the morning and he says anytime. Granted he says "anytime" but I know the drill and I don't wana waste a call, so i'm trying to decifer whens the best time in the morning
Best Time to Contact Traders (Originally Posted: 03/25/2013)
For people currently in the field or experienced networkers: when is the best time to contact traders?
I want to time my emails so that they are more likely to receive attention and a reply.
(Planning things out for hopefully a SA 2014)
5pm
30mins after close.
Lunchtime.
10 am or lunchtime. When I get emails in the afternoon I generally just want to get out of the office, so I leave them for the next day, which means if it's networking there's a high chance I'll completely forget about it.
Email them between 10am-11am. Expect that they will be available to talk after the market closes or possibly during lunch.
9:30 am (eastern).
Is it a bad idea to send emails at 6-7pm in the hopes that traders might read them when they come home?
for the most part traders do not really need blackberries, and really dont check them very often at all. your only hope in doing that is that they would see it early the next morning.
i get about 5 emails a week. Noone tries to sell me anything so i get no emails and management know better than to interfere.
Then waiting til 1030 may not be a bad idea. Obviously calling between 9 and 10 is stupid but he may have a few minutes later on
Ruroh!
I was going to start cold calling some trading firms, but now I take it that it is a "very bad no good awful" idea right? Because they would be busy all day trading when the markets are open.
Stupid me.
dont call me until after lunch.. i would say 1-230 is your sweet spot.. i am done by 9 am but still busy until around 11.. then grab a bite
What kind of trader is he?
Not 100% sure, but I do know he's head of his desk and CEO of the BB if that helps
the CEO of the BB....what? He's the CEO of a Bulge Bracket Investment Bank? That means he's one of like 6 peope
Still new to the acronyms on this forum, thought BB stood for Boutique bank, my bad
bb stands for big bitches and not the my gf over weight kind i mean OPRAH WINFREY BIG
You better get your shit together before you talk to this dude then
yeah the preferred nomenclature is asian american dude (actually it's mm for middle market)
/say what you want about the tenets of national socialism, but at least it's an ethos.
Donny you're out of your element! We're talking about unchecked aggression here, dude.
Depends on what he trades, and what kind of trader (sales-trader, or prop). Equity sales-trader, I would call before 8am eastern, and after 4:30.
something i didnt think about until now.. I dont return voicemails.. so if you leave one.. dont sit on it.. call back....
i think monday -friday i start every call with "sorry but i been crazy busy....." so dont sweat it... just call and call back if you cant get through
