You beat me to it Edmundo. I can see how this would happen. Lehman is going to go bankrupt by midnight tonight.

When this happens Merrill Lynch will be fucked. If ML failed to merge with another bank, they too could go bankrupt by the end of this week.

FT offers safe?

Offer or not, I'm still not feeling great about what's going on now. Any thoughts on whether FT offers made over the past few weeks could be in serious danger at the banks thus far not on the chopping block? ie BofA, JPM, GS...

Johnny Boy must feel like

Johnny Boy must feel like shit. He gets snubbed at Goldman Sachs and then right after becoming head of a major investment bank he is forced to merge.

I'm sure Thain gets a monster golden parachute though on top of his $84 million in compensation last year and maybe he can go house hunting to upgrade from his $30 million pad.
