Asking for a friend of my who just received offers for SA from Centerview and Bain.
He wants to eventually be a tech entrepreneur. What is the better choice?

I'd go Bain. Nothing like SF
I'd go Bain. Nothing like SF if you're into tech.
If Bain's project assignment is anything like McKinsey's, he will definitely get the experience he's looking for.
in addition, in general i've
in addition, in general i've heard the skillset derived from consulting lends itself more strongly to entrepreneurship than banking.
i'd go with centerview even
i'd go with centerview even though i'm in consulting.
money helps if you're trying to be an entrepreneur.
san fran bain no question
san fran bain no question
Bain SF definitely
Bain SF definitely
For what he wants, I think SF
For what he wants, I think SF Bain is the obvious choice.
I'd say consulting if you
I'd say consulting if you want to go the entrepreneurship route. Plus SF for tech is great.
I think Bain is a good choice for him based off of the limited information you posted.
"They are all former investment bankers that were laid off in the economic collapse that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have no marketable skills, but by God they work hard."
compared to Centerview, Bain
compared to Centerview, Bain SF is clearly the better choice but Bain (or any other consulting firm) is not a path to becoming a tech entrepreneur. if he happens to have a great start-up idea, his Bain experience and SF exposure/network will better enable him to execute it.
i still think the centerview
i still think the centerview bonus will allow him to execute any idea better, but that's just me.
Bain SF for becoming an
Bain SF for becoming an entrepreneur IMO
On the
On the professional-development front:
My friend is generally interested in tech entrepreneurship (VC, angel, tech startup, etc), not necessarily in starting his own venture.
On the culture front:
He's also quite the geeky/dorky type. Very sociable and likable (hence the offers) but the type of guy that can easily be mistaken for a gay-best-friend. That said, the fratty culture at Bain is somewhat of a concern.
Any thoughts given these circumstances?
