I'd go Bain. Nothing like SF if you're into tech.

If Bain's project assignment is anything like McKinsey's, he will definitely get the experience he's looking for.

Banking > VC > Tech PE; PM me if you would like any advice I'm happy to help

in addition, in general i've heard the skillset derived from consulting lends itself more strongly to entrepreneurship than banking.

I'd say consulting if you want to go the entrepreneurship route. Plus SF for tech is great.

I think Bain is a good choice for him based off of the limited information you posted.

"They are all former investment bankers that were laid off in the economic collapse that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have no marketable skills, but by God they work hard."

compared to Centerview, Bain SF is clearly the better choice but Bain (or any other consulting firm) is not a path to becoming a tech entrepreneur. if he happens to have a great start-up idea, his Bain experience and SF exposure/network will better enable him to execute it.
